Things are still cranking at the Fraser factory; there’s never a dull moment!
Geoff’s BMW 2002 restomod is making good progress. We 3D scanned the whole vehicle to create a CAD file of the body. This allows us to 3D model the new body kit, which we will fabricate entirely out of steel, all done end to end in house. The advantage of doing this is that we can finalise the design before entering the fab stage rather than redoing work if we are not happy with the results. Alongside this, we have nearly finished the front and rear swaybars, fabricated the mounts for the massive 12 inch wide Motec digital dash and started the new bonnet latching system. Work has also begun on the electrical system, featuring a Motec ECU and PDM along with all the bells and whistles!
Gary’s Electric Moke is very close to completion; the last of the parts refitted to the car, we are now just going through the final stages before presenting it to the LV certifier for him to perform his final inspection. It has been a long road getting this car legal but fingers crossed he is happy with it and we are on the home stretch to hand the car over soon.
Steve’s turbocharged 3SGE Fraser will return from our trimmer tomorrow. We are all looking forward to seeing the magic Scotty has created so we can progress to getting the car driven (a slightly scary thought with +400hp) and road legal just in time for winter!
William’s FD RX7 is fully reassembled and awaits the supplier of the Bosch ABS system which we installed, to come and set it up with us. We are looking forward to seeing how this works. All reports suggest it’s an absolute game changer that can brake much harder and faster than any human can so watch this space.
Don’s 1935 Ford is getting the full birthday! It looked beautiful from the outside but as is often the case with many American import classics, the running gear needs servicing to ensure it drives nicely. We have replaced every bushing in the car, rebuilt the fuel pump and carburetor, and added a few nice touches along the way. This will be a great car and knowing Don, he will be out driving it rain or shine!
An interesting project arrived yesterday for us to ponder over. It is a Noble M400 which our customer imported and requires us to get it road legal for him. Much like a Fraser, these were produced in low numbers, so they will enter the fleet as an LVV Scratchbuilt vehicle and we will navigate the highs and lows of the LV system for him. I’ll provide an update on this project over the next few months.
Denzil has dropped off his VW Karmann Ghia for us to finish. It has been painted and is in the very early stages of fitting a naturally aspirated Subaru boxer engine into it. We have a long way to go but are really looking forward to this project coming together.
Got a project of your own? Whether it’s a full restomod, a certification headache, or something that makes people raise an eyebrow – we’d love to hear about it. Get in touch and let’s have a chat.
Until next month…
