Change is in the air this month but the work keeps marching on!

One of our mechanics, Luke, has decided to start his own general mechanic business and go out on his own. Luke was with us for two years and he will be hard to replace but we wish him well with his future endeavours. We also purchased a CNC plasma cutter so we can now do all our cutting in house. The advantage of this is that we have no down time while we wait for cutting to be done and delivered so this should speed up our workflow and save the customer both time and money. We are still coming to grips with it but hope this will be a great investment for the future. The downside is that it is quite large so we have had to shift things around to fit it into the already jam-packed workshop. The upside is that it has forced us to go through piles of treasures we’ve been storing for years and have a good ole huck out!

Stephen’s turbo Fraser has been dropped off at the trimmers for a fancy new interior. We know Scotty will work his magic and produce something beautiful so we can finish the car and get it on the road as soon as possible.

Geoff’s BMW 2002 restomod is coming along in leaps and bounds. It now sports a half cage in the back and all three pedals and the steering wheel have been mounted so we can sit in it and make car noises! The custom made wheels have just arrived and we have cut the wheel arches out to make room for them. This allows us to put the car on the ground and finalise a ride height so that we can begin on designing the wheel arch flares, front lip and rear diffusers. Once these are modelled, we can produce the bucks and make them from steel.

Bryan’s Charger is now ready for paint after we found numerous dodgy repairs that had been bogged over. We are waiting to hear from the painter about when he can slot us in but hopefully, it shouldn’t be too long now.

William’s FD RX7 is now back from the painters after receiving a complete new body kit and a full respray. We have done the final reassembly and we are just waiting for the paint to cure before we can fit paint protection film. Then we can get it road tested so we can set up the new Bosch motorsport ABS system and brakes that we fitted previously.

Gary’s Moke is finally underway after years of paperwork and we have added new side intrusion bars and reinforcing the seat mounts. Once this is back from powdercoating, we can fit them up and book in the final LV inspection. All going well this will be the first EV Moke on the road in NZ.

Thinking about a project? Got something a bit interesting (or a bit questionable), get in touch – we like a challenge.
