Darren’s beautiful 1971 Dodge Demon 340 has just been completed and ready to hand over. We fitted seat belts, steering wheel, tubular upper control arms to increase the caster and upgraded the brakes to a brake booster and matching master cylinder along with a bunch of servicing work to get her driving sweet for summer. We then got the LV certification done and a fresh new warrant of fitness, so she’s all legal and Darren can get out and enjoy it with his family.
Stuart’s 1957 Jaguar XK140 is back from the upholsterers and is looking great. We have had a few small items left to do and it’s now waiting for the LV certifier to finish his final inspection before we can get the car to compliance and get it road legal for summer.
Alun’s 1976 Chev Malibu is back for its next round of upgrades. This time we are making custom door panels to bring some of the engine bay styling into the interior. The old door speakers are being hidden under the new panel, LED lighting and the dice theme will also be featured so watch this space! We have also fitted an under-glow light system and Dan has a special surprise up his sleeve but we’ll bang on about that next month once it arrives!
Kevin has his 1964 Austin Healy 3000 in with us currently. This car has been modified in Australia and has now been imported to NZ. The modifications include a steering rack conversion, disc brakes and telescopic shock conversion. We have been going over everything to make sure the modifications comply with the New Zealand LV system and then run it through certification and compliance to get it road legal. So far it looks like a very nice car with everything being well done, so it shouldn’t be long before we can hand it over.
Geoff’s BMW 2002 Restomod has made some good progress with the new custom steering rack courtesy of Woodward Steering in the US. It is a very nice piece of kit and allows us to easily change things to get the steering feel just right! Mounting of the rack into the chassis is nearly complete and the parts have started to arrive for the steering column. We have also added a hydraulic power steering pump to the front of the motor (the standard Honda Civic has electric power-steering) This also entailed remounting the alternator and fitting a couple of idlers into the serpentine belt system to get adequate wrap around the pulleys.
The trim process has begun on Steve’s 3SGTE Fraser. Not much to show yet but we know over the next month it will start to look amazing!
We have just handed over Gary’s 1992 Caterham, in time to enjoy over summer. This is another imported car which we have done the remedial work to get it road legal in NZ. We look forward to seeing Gary out and about soon.
Dennis dropped his 2009 Leitch (Lotus 7) off for us to sort a few issues out in. Worn suspension components were making a hell of a racket and the windscreen seal had come out. We ended up changing the windscreen seal over to a Fraser item as we know they work well and look good. Some new shock bushes in the rear and a new pair of front shocks has transformed the way it drives so Dennis should be very happy with it when he picks it up.
