Northland Adventure

Dates – 1st December to 4th December 2017

Destination – Roy & Alexa’s place, Kerikeri

Accommodation – Camp-sites available and plenty of floor space if you don’t mind sleeping on the floor. Sorry our spare beds have been snaffled already. If you decide on a motel there are plenty in the area but will pay to book something pronto because we have many tourists passing through.

We have a pool so bring your togs, it’s not heated though.

Last year I think we had a dozen cars visit, including Paul all the way from New Plymouth. We are hoping for more this year, we say the more the merrier.

We are planning a similar program to last year.

Those who wish to come up Friday meet at the BP on the northern motorway at 09.00 and make your way north in convoy, I suggest you liaise with Steve Lowery. I will again meet you at Whakapara BP at 1.30pm. Whakapara is about 20 minutes north of Whangarei. We will take the coast road to Russell, maybe stop at Russell for an ice cream, maybe a walk on the wharf. From Russell we head to Opua via the car ferry passing through Paihia and then Kerikeri. Everyone is invited home for dinner, not sure what will be on the menu this year but I’m sure you won’t go hungry. Feel free to bring your preferred tipple.

For those coming up Saturday morning I suggest you meet us at 10.15am at the BP at Waipapa which is on State Highway 10, about 15 minutes north of Kerikeri.

For those already here I suggest meeting at the popular farmers market on Kerikeri Road around 08.30’ish before heading to the BP at Waipapa to meet up with the rest of the gang.

We will again head up to Mangonui for fish & chips and then make our way down the coast road via Whangaroa and back to home.

When we return home we may have a simple driver proficiency test, just to hone our already “sharp” driving skills.

You are invited for a pizza dinner personally cooked by me but you are welcome to take over the cooking duties at any time, I will not be offended! We have all the gear and Alexa will prepare the dough but if you have a favourite pizza topping please bring it along, it is great to try new flavours. And don’t forget to bring something to wash all those pizzas down.

Unfortunately no Breakfast With The Cars at Paihia this Sunday because a cruise ship is scheduled and a market is held on the village green when ever a ship visits, so no room to show off the cars.

I guess most people will be heading home Sunday, but if you decide to stay longer feel free to hang out a while, you will be most welcome.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
