Report by Gary Cullen – Auckland Fraser Car Club Rep

Well, despite the changeable weather we had an excellent turnout and outing on Sunday the 20th,  to Peter’s barn to view his Veteran and Vintage Harley Davidson collection. I am impressed by those attendees who braved the morning showers and arrived from parts north and south of Auckland. We had 7 Frasers, a Sylva Striker and Bruce’s Celica GT4 with 13 people overall. The run out to Peter’s place via Hunua Gorge road, Clevedon and Whitford park road was damp and greasy but at least it didn’t rain during the run, unlike after we arrived when a few heavy showers wandered through. Some of the tighter corners through the gorge were a bit twitchy though!

Pete gave us a great welcome and talked about the collection, how and why he started it and his experiences taking one or two of the bikes on rallies around NZ and even back to the US for some long distance touring. Check out some of the pictures accompanying this report that Rowan, our residential Photographer, took on the day. Many thanks for your time and hospitality Peter, from the Fraser Car Club. We note your collection is maybe moving in a new direction with the addition of a vintage four wheeler parked outside, a 1926 Oakland Tourer with wooden spoked wheels…
